Check out this Trip Report: https://ebird.org/tripreport/289414 The weather was extraordinary, the birds were amazing and cooperative, I ran into nice people to chat with, I stayed in a great airbnb, and all in all I had a great time.
One question: I walked twice at DAR State Park. Both times flocks of 12-25 birds flew over, heading west or southwest, too fast for me to get a good look. In the bright sun, they looked truly gold. They were too large for goldfinches and weren’t flying like them. I wondered about Evening Grosbeaks, but that would have been an extremely large number (and no one has reported many on ebird for ages). There were many, many robins around, so I wondered if the morning light was making their red breasts look gold, but I didn’t think they looked right for robins. Any ideas????
