Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis) (1)
- Reported Nov 01, 2024 08:45 by Tom Edell
- Morro Rock, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8670566&<ll...>,-120.8670566 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S201039439 - Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "one resting on the north tip of the Morro Bay Sandspit and then on the water. Lighting prevented me from seeing the bill color on this bird that was first reported two days ago. I think this is a female as it lacks gray scapulars and has a relatively narrow dark chest band. The sex will be confirmed if it sticks around for a few days and is seen in better light. (Photos)"
Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) (1)
- Reported Nov 01, 2024 07:33 by Nick & Jane
- Meadow Park--San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6606531&<ll...>,-120.6606531 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S201016841 - Comments: "Heard only. Calling from bottle brush trees mid-park. It was the more squishy vireo-sounding call that starts with a squeaky high note, quicky falls, and ascends and flattens for a beat and then repeats. Only managed to record one tiny fragment but prolly wont upload."
