I was able to make it to Binder Lake this afternoon and found several other birders present who also saw the American Avocets (previously observed/reported by Bruce Berger). I counted the birds six times, and six times, I counted 28 individual birds.
Their behavior consisted of floating out in the center of Binder Lake located almost straight out from the boat ramp then lifting off the water to circle several times only to land back out in the center of the lake. This took place from before I arrived at Binder Lake (based on the report from those present) and continued until they rose up off the lake's surface one last time at 5:54 pm and flew off southward and out of sight.
