Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
10/30 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 9:30am-1PM, high tide,
sunny, 65F.
Beautiful day at the Coastal center- the marsh was like a sheet of glass
with the grasses a beautiful gold color.
On the marsh:
About 300 Brant (very loud) flew in and were on the marsh , 8 Canada Geese,
1 Northern harrier coasted over, the family of 5 Mute swans , 11
Cormorants very far out by a buoy, 1 Great Egret further out and 2 American
Black Ducks.
On the grounds & feeders:
3 Blue Jays, 2 Northern Cardinals, House sparrows, white throated sparrows,
2 Song sparrows, a Robin, 7 Starlings on the tree top, 6 Mourning doves
feeding under the cedars, 12 Common Grackles, 1 Downy woodpecker, and 1
Hairy woodpecker working the trees, White breasted nuthatches, Chickadees,
1 Titmouse, 7 House finches, 1 Yellow rumped warbler in the cedars and 1
Cooper's Hawk in the water fountain, flicking its tail, splashing and
bathing (thanks for the ID help Ken).
