Small sparrow, appeared to be about the same size or smaller than the nearby DE Juncos. What I noticed first were its three pale throat stripes: one central and two lateral. Clean gray nape, buffy breastband, pink beak and legs. Face and head patterning seemed consistent with CCSP. Possibly a young bird?
Seen this morning from 8:11 to 8:13am from the upper paved trail that goes by Calabazas Creek in the Blue Elder tree at 37.39712414, -121.98658975.
Lost it when the flock flew from that tree, across the trail, and into the oleander hedge.
Very poor photos attached. One shows it with a DEJU on the left. Gray nape is visible in that photo and in CCSP-2.jpg.
