American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus) (1) CONFIRMED

About medium sized, similar to the black crowned night heron. Had the off white, brown stripes and spotted coloring. Yellow beak and yellow green legs. Biology class on field trip also identified it as American Bittern."

- Comments: "Bright adult female tanager. All-yellow underside. Gray wings and white wingbars. Didn’t see its back. Found in northwest end of park 30-40 yards east of Exposition Dr. Heard bird calling and found it fluttering high in canopy. Snagged a photo too."
