Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Nice Oriole Flock @ Zoo: 2 Male Orchard Orioles, 1 Male Scott's Oriole, 1 Female Baltimore
While walking by the Southern Ground Hornbill observation area at the top
of Africa Rocks (32.738839, -117.150006), I spotted a mixed flock of
orioles inside the hornbill habitat: two vibrant male Orchard Orioles
together, one male Scott’s Oriole, and a female-type Baltimore Oriole. The
mesh in the habitat is large enough for birds to come and go. When I
returned with my camera, the flock had moved to an acacia tree just across
from the hornbills.

I grabbed a couple of quick ID shots and uploaded them to iNaturalist. I'll
process the rest of my photos when I get home. This appears to be the same
flock we had during the CBC last year. Hopefully, they'll stick
around—especially the Scott’s!

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
