Subject: [hmbirds] 5 Rivers today
A glorious morning at 5 Rivers. I parked at the bus parking lot. First out of car a Cooper’s hawk flew overhead. Despite that, purple, house and gold finches were feeding with song sparrows and golden crown kinglets in the crabapple trees on north side of lot. Up in the bobolinks field (none present) a flock of cedar waxwings were in a dead tree. A red tail hawk flew over and they chased the red tail hawk! It quickly got altitude and got out of there. On the turkey trail- blue birds, golden crown kinglets, and a swamp sparrow. Further along the turkey trail and near what I call the bobolink field, a female marsh hawk was searching for prey. She dove suddenly but came up with nothing.
