Today at Denison was more birdy than yesterday altho I did see 3 Purple finches again on Saturday—one v bright male with 2 females so I suspected it was the same group I’d seen the day before. Aside from a couple Hermit Thrushes, I didn’t see much else altho it was a lovely day to be out.
Today started off well with my Ohio FOS Dark-eyed Junco at my feeders (I saw my FOS last week in NJ) and 2 Chipping Sparrows, one in the more typical nonbreeding plumage & the other more like Sibley shows as “pale 1st winter”. Seems a bit late but I saw one in my yard not too long ago & they definitely were not Tree Sparrows.
More bird activity today at frosty Denison particularly for sparrows. Best bird was a brief but clear look at an Orange-crowned Warbler. Also saw one female Purple Finch & a couple juncos.
