Subject: [nysbirds-l] Manhattan, NYC - to Sat., 10/26 - L. B.-b. Gull, V. Rail, W. Snipe, Pine Siskin, Vesper & other Sparrow spp, etc.
Manhattan, N.Y. City - including Central Park and many more NYC parks and greenspaces -
to Saturday, October 26th -

A Lesser Black-backed Gull was seen and photographed -A. Evans- along the Hudson River off lower Manhattans Tribeca area waterfront area park, on Wed., Oct. 23.

A Virginia Rail was continuing at Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan, from at least Oct. 22 but possibly an ongoing bird from earlier, and was still at that location into Thursday, 10-24, with multiple observers.

A Wilsons Snipe was seen at Inwood Hill Park in northern Manhattan on Thursday, 10/24 thru at least the following day there10-25, and also seen there was a Vesper Sparrow from Wednesday to Thursday, these birds with multiple observers.

A N. Pintail was photographed at The Pool in Central Parks nw sector on Saturday, Oct. 26th. On the Central Park reservoir the American Coot numbers had grown to at least six individuals.

The long-lingering Northern Waterthrush was reported in eBird again for Friday, Oct. 25th at the same location as in previous weeks, The Pool in Central Parks n. end, and on the same morning the same observer photographed an E. Bluebird, for eBird and the Macaulay Library, at Central Park. Earlier this month, multiple E. Bluebirds had occurred at Central Park, with just one example being a confirmed via eBird sighting of two individuals from Oct. 16th.

Other warblers lingering to at least Friday included up to 9 additional species besides that one waterthrush in Central Park, and up to one-dozen species of warbler in all of New York County. None of these warbler species were record late, and most not even close to record late dates for this county.
...
A report came thru on Friday, 10/25 for a Nelsons Sparrow on Governors Island - just south of Manhattan island and a part of the same county, which is New York County.

Thanks to many keen, quiet, courteous observers and photographers for various sightings and reports in non-x alerts and via eBird.

Good birding,
