Today the sapsucker was hawking insects from a trio of fan palms located between 1475 and 1477 Santa Ynez Lane."

Dark blue back, light breast and belly, with a short tail. The obvious pale front of the forehead was the most distinguishable characteristic for this species."

- Comments: "Continuing, seen here: (34.4727628, -120.2279927) on the south side of the creek bed north of the parking lot. Extensive reddish-brown on wings and coverts, buffy flanks. Smudgy streaks on breast and belly, thick dark streaks on back contrasting with fine streaks on nearby Lincoln’s, dark postocular eyeline, white throat. Photo."

- Comments: "Subadult male in the cape honeysuckle hedge south of the footbridge. Relatively small oriole with an extensive black hood and strong wingbars. Underparts were a dirty orange, not the ochre color I'm used to with adult males but more of a yellow-orange. The bird in this image is pretty close to what it looked like: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/613127837. Vocalizing as it skulked in the hedge, giving brief "check" calls and quiet singing."
