Observation start time: 07:45:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7.25 hours
Official Counter: Diane Stewart
Observers: Darrell Smith, Jen Lee, Ken Tucker
Visitors: Lots of visitors. The highlight for me was witnessing, Max, an 11 year old birder from Shippensburg, hang around for over 2 hours in hopes of seeing his first GE. His persistence paid off! Robin (Crow)Shore visited and had his first raptor migration lessons courtesy of Darrell. Gary and Vicky Varner from Juniata County spent some time on the mountain with us today.
Weather: Cool with winds out of the SW all day. Winds varied from 3-10mph with some gusts stronger. Clear blue skies with little cloud cover. Temps ranging from 60-75 degrees F.
Raptor Observations: All flight was to the southern side of the site. Local RT and BE not counted. Local vultures also not counted. Highlight of the day was watching a local raven harass an IGE on its way through. At times, the raven appeared to be riding the GE back.
