This afternoon I checked the subject locations in the hope of getting my first-of-season Ferruginous Hawk. Alas, it was not to be. Instead I got a GOLDEN EAGLE and a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE at Armour Ranch Rd. The absence of cattle at this location has made the grass grow too tall, I think, for Horned Larks or Longspurs. The second stop, Alisos Rd x Happy Canyon Rd, was very birdy with many YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, WESTERN BLUE BLUEBIRD, WESTERN MEADOWLARK, and various Sparrow Sp. The latter set included 1 or 2 VESPER SPARROW and a CHIPPING/CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.
