Subject: [sbcobirding] A note re: Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in Carpinteria
Great Find by Eric Culbertson.  I note in the photos that the bird was in a Gingko tree.  Others trying to find sapsuckers might want to stake out this particular species.  Like California Pepper trees, Gingko seems to be particularly attractive to Sapsuckers.  We had a Gingko in our yard and almost every fall, we got at least one Red-breasted Sapsucker (and in a couple of years, a hybrid), and one Winter, a Red-naped.
