Found both Buntings this morning. The Painted first appeared about 10:45 in a flock of white-crowns feeding on the ground near all the picnic tables, but it didn't stay down long. It was over an hour later when I found it again, this time with the Lazuli Bunting. They were feeding in the very sparse vegetation on either side of the short concrete walk through the fence that separates the parking area from the campsite parking. When finished, they flew into a sycamore near where I had seen the Painted Bunting earlier.
Great find Peter and thanks for sharing the news promptly!
The Palm Warbler was also in evidence, mainly hanging around the edge of the campground parking area near where the host has scattered seed.
It did not seem to be a particularly birdy day, but spent over two hours and totaled up 43 species when I was through.
