Subject: [sbcobirding] Continuing male Hepatic Tanager
Andy McGrath re-found the male Hepatic Tanager this morning, high in
eucalyptus in the area where Nick presumably found it yesterday, so 50 to
100 meters east of the footbridge. A group of us then watched it fly south
to the eucalyptus grove close to the neighborhood and San Rossano Drive and
got more good views. It flew east from there and was re-found by Tom
Turner, about 100 meters east, before disappearing in the euc grove again.
So, it's moving around a fair amount. It was perching in view quite a bit,
and the bird is quite red, so not that hard to spot at times.
