Observation start time: 12:30:00 Observation end time: 14:30:00 Total observation time: 1.75 hours
Official Counter: Bill Rasku
Observers: Visitors: (none noted)
Weather: The summit was mostly covered with fog for the entire day with only glimpses to the West and South. There was better visibility down at the North Rd overlook, so Bill went down there from 1:45 to 2:30 but left when the fog lowered to cover that view as well. Wind NW 4-6 mph with 8 mph "gusts" at the top. Little wind felt at the overlook. Temp 20-23 C
Raptor Observations: Bill couldn't see any migrating birds at the summit during the hour that he spent up there. Two TVs and a Coop passed by at the North Rd site.
Non-migrating raptors: all at North Rd. Red-tailed Hawk - 1 TV - 2 Non-raptor Observations: Non-raptors: At the summit - several DE Juncos, E. Towhee and Blue Jay.
At North Rd overlook - nice wave of birds... House Wren, Comm Yellowthroat, Ruby Cr Kinglet, Golden Cr Kinglet, Downy WP, Blue-headed Vireo, T. Titmouse, Chickadee, Yellow-rump Warbler and an Amer Crow off in the distance
Predictions: A much better day with sunny to mostly sunny skies, temps in the 50s, and NW to WNW winds at 8-12 mph. Overnight lows in the 40s up in NH should get some of the undecided birds moving.
It will be chilly at the summit with the brisk wind, so dress warmly (including gloves and hat) if you come up. ======================================================================== Report submitted by ERIC MUELLER (<ericmueller1912...>) Wachusett Mountain information may be found at: http://www.massbird.org/emhw
