Subject: [sbcobirding] Plumbeous Vireo and Blackpoll Warbler, Ryon Park, Lompoc
Hi All,
After very easily finding Eunice Schroeder's SAGE THRASHER at Ocean
Park this afternoon (near gazebo) I stopped at Ryon Park on a whim but with
a hunch it could be a decent spot. There's not a lot of understory but
there are big trees and a nice variety of species including a few Eucs.
The park was fairly birdy and had migrant warblers so I did a full loop.
Ended up finding a nice mixed flock moving around a few trees near the main
entrance. After working the flock a bit a PLUMBEOUS VIREO popped out. Got
great looks but it flew into the tree and could not grab a photo. The bird
eventually reappeared in the same spot but again eluded photos. After
taking a break and meeting up with a friend we went back out but failed to
relocate the vireo. We, however, were pleased to find a more cooperative
BLACKPOLL WARBLER in the same tree in about the same location. A full
checklist and more details here:

Best,
Daniel Farrar
Lompoc, CA
