Subject: [sbcobirding] Pacific Golden Plover joins the American @ Sands
Hi Everyone,
I went to Sands beach today to try to find the continuing American golden plover.  I was pleased to find it still there, first near (34.4141753, -119.8850900), then again in the fenced off Snowy Plover area at the mouth of Devereux slough.  While scanning through the rest of the Pluvialis here ( 34.410807, -119.881970) , I was surprised to see another golden plover in the background.  It disappeared when I tried to get a video showing both consecutively, but 5 minutes later flew back in with a group of sanderlings, giving flight calls and landing right next to the American!  Being able to get it in the same binocular view as the American, it was easy to compare the birds directly and make the new golden plover out as a Pacific.

Happy birding,
Max Laubstein
