Small duck compared to Mallards with white horizontal marks on each side of the breast stood out at distance and first caused me to look more closely at this bird. Otherwise noted the grayish sides, rusty head and neck, and what looked like mottled white in the undertail coverts. Too distance to see finer detail or colors."

Call was just a few high pitched notes each time. Likely the same bird reported on 5/30/2025 by H. Elliott and R. Comer"

First heard several times at entrance to lagoon trail off of Norswing Dr. Then heard again in same area while on the other the side of the lagoon about an hour later after doing a loop. High pitched song, often just 3-5 notes."

- Comments: "Male in breeding plumage. Grey back and head with white arcs along the edge of upper & lower eye. Bright yellow chin and belly. Rufous bib and streak below each wing. Thin beak with yellow lower mandible. High pitched buzzy song. Singing in the upper branches of sycamores along the creek where the trail crosses over the NW end of the private road. Recording. Photos."
