Subject: [Ohio-birds] Denison part 2!
Sorry, I accidentally sent the last email about Denison this morning before I had a chance to finish it.

Just before the power tools started, I heard a loudly calling Alder FC, confirmed by Merlin. I had just gotten on the bird when the tool started up & the bird took off. I did get a recording which I’ll post to ebird. This is a new species for my reserve list.

I retreated to some trails farther away from the ponds and the noise, which was a good choice. In short order, I heard both a Canada and a Mourning, although neither were particularly close. Farther down the trail, I heard them both again somewhat closer, although the Canada stopped singing; no sightings. The Mourning continued but despite waiting patiently, I was never able to see it. It would sometimes come closer to the path, but then go deeper in, then I had to leave. While I was waiting to hopefully see the Mourning, I had another male Wilson’s pop-up & heard Blackburnian, redstart & saw a magnolia.

Not bad for a chilly cloudy almost fall-like morning.
