Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 5 hours
Official Counter: Alan Simon, John Mercer
Observers: Alan Simon, Bob Kelly
Weather: Cloudy and cool with strong winds out of the Northeast. No precipitation until around 2:55, so the count was called at 3 due to blowing mist making it hard to keep optics dry.
Raptor Observations: Surprisingly good movement considering the weather. Locals included three Red-tail, two Bald Eagle, 2 Cooper's. A good movement of cooper's hawks again today. Two groups of obviously migrating Turkey Vultures were counted today. Although up to 20 Black Vultures were seen at one time, they did not migrate, instead they scattered all directions, then kept travelling back and forth over the area.
Non-raptor Observations: One Great Blue Heron
Predictions: Mostly Cloudy and slightly warmer, temperature reaching upper 60's. Strong winds out of the North may push birds our way. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
