- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S58976915

- Comments: "I'm not familiar with this species, but it was first reported
yesterday and many other people present were commenting on and watching it.
Based on reviewing the photos and watching the bird through a scope I think
it looks good for a Stilt Sandpiper.

Smaller than nearby killdeer, slightly smaller than dowitchers, but larger
than the peeps in the area (I believe Least SP but couldn't see much detail
from this distance). Stilt SP was about 200 feet out, voraciously feeding
by probing the mud flats and shallow waters, back arched so tail and rump
were pointed up in the air versus the more flat-backed feeding method seen
in the dowitchers. Yellow legs, slightly drooping black bill, some slight
hint of orange/cream coloration of the feathers at the base of the bill and
on the cheeks, perhaps a little more on the back of the crown too. Dark
barring down the flanks with white underneath."

Sanderling (Calidris alba) (3)
- Reported Aug 13, 2019 00:00 by Ezra Cohen
- Oaks Park, Multnomah, Oregon

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S58969825
- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Seen while scoping across the river. What first caught my eye
was the overall light color of these birds. They were nearly white. Once I
got accustomed to the distance, I noticed the very black straight bills on
the birds but never was able to see the leg color. That there were three is
an estimate as there were several among a flock of other sandpipers; likely
Leasts. The birds foraged by running along the very edge of the water
parallel to the it and then stopping to pick before continuing seemingly
like plovers. But there were clearly no breast bands ruling out SEPL and
KILL. When seen among the other sandpipers, these three birds were clearly
bigger ruling out LESA, SESA and WESA ,yet smaller and less rounded than
BBPL. Two were in winter plumage but one appeared to have a little
remaining rust color on nape and around head. I am adding the horrible
digiscoped photos and videos because they may help in some way. Any
feedback will be welcome."
