- Comments: "Life Bird for Caleb and Courtney, thanks to Nolan for finding
an adult male ! Nolan got some great photos! Franklin’s because of large
white spots upper tail, and also not large red comb like other ssp might
have : in grouseberries (some tart red berries now) with downed logs, young
growth lodgepole pine bordering subalpine fir, downed wood thicket , 20-yd
from creeklet ; Spruce GR because black grouse: dark charcoal coloring of
most of head neck of bird: and front of neck blacker, black , with white
around black chin patch, black top of forehead above bill : also was
beautiful to see the brownish feathers on back , each one of which
patterned in concentric contour waves of roundish feather shape. Remarkably
beautiful and cooperative bird!"

present. Flyby adult about 15m away over water. Classic yellow feet as
opposed to the GREG black feet. Dark bill with yellowish lores."
