Pine Grosbeak (Rocky Mts.) (Pinicola enucleator montana) (4)

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S58006133
- Media: 10 Photos
- Comments: "Continuing near the walk-in campsites. Initially found 2
juveniles and an adult male around 8:10 at the start of the Hoffer Lake
Trail. The male flew east toward Site 35 where it joined another adult
male. They hung around between Site 35 and Site 36, on the other side of
the start of the Hoffer Lake Trail. After about an hour the second adult
male took off east and we never saw him again. The first adult male hung
around the juveniles, occasionally feeding them. Based on range maps I
would assume that the Rocky Mts. subspecies is the expected breeding
subspecies in Northeastern OR. Mostly red male plumage also matches with
the Rocky Mts. subspecies. Pics and audio to come. A great chance to spend
time with these birds."
