Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanassa violacea) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Jan 27, 2019 10:43 by Mark Holmgren
- UC Santa Barbara--Lagoon, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=34.4071221,-119.8483944&ll=34.4071221,-119.8483944
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S52118537
- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Compared to other night-herons present in the willow patch on the north side of the lagoon, this bird was over all grayish in tone, although breast was not well seen. I viewed it by spotting scope from the south side of the lagoon looking north. Bill was slightly stubbier than other herons present and grayish-black with minimal pale color at the base of the mandible. Those breast streaks that are visible seem thin and not blurry. Spots on the wings seem small and round, not tear-drop shaped. The greater wing coverts show a white margin on their outer edge. Perhaps this is the first sighting for Campus Lagoon. The other night-herons present should be checked more carefully than I was able to do today."

Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Jan 27, 2019 10:43 by Mark Holmgren
- UC Santa Barbara--Lagoon, Santa Barbara, California

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S52118537
- Media: 1 Photo
- Comments: "Large kingbird with largely yellow breast and belly. White throat, Long, protruding bill from which a black shadow passes across the face over the eye. Slight greenish cast to the gray back. Tail not black, but brownish with thin white margins."
