As of 3:22pm the only eider sp. present off of Meig’s Point is a sleeping female Common.

A note to those attempting to differentiate these highly similar species: female Kings are smaller than Commons and have chevrons instead of barring on their flanks. Common Eider also overall have a more anvil-shaped head. The bills are also different shades, as are the overall colors of the birds, but depending on light conditions there can be some overlap.
