Subject: [MBBIRDS] Struve Slough to Swanton Road (S. to N. SC County)
|Today's Santa Cruz Bird Club trip went from south to north county.
A great thanks to Brian for posting sightings as went along, while I drove -
what a team.
To round out some sightings of note (not including sightings already posted
Lee Road / Struve Slough = West Struve Slough
2 HOODED MERGANSERS (1 male/female pair) seen from Lee Road in Struve Slough
where is joins Watsonville Slough. These were scope birds.
9 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES (4 male and five female) - moving around and
1 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER
20+ TREE / VIOLET GREEN SWALLOWS - at least 2 Violet-green and 6 Tree - the
rest of group moving through was not scrutinized
1 CANVASBACK (Male)
2 WILSON SNIPE
16 WHITE-FACED IBIS
Some numbers of CINNIMON TEAL (~20) and GREEN-WINGED TEAL (~20), here,
Hwy 1 and Dimeo Road - near landfill / Wilder Ranch horse camp / artificial
ponds (private property / Granite Rock quarry ponds???)
2 BALD EAGLES - one adult pair circling over area, slow south movement.
Open question as it is one of the birds is the same one seen flying south
past Swanton Road pond, earlier.
