Visitors:
Two very fine raptor enthusiasts were very much appreciated by the BOK
counter. Joe Farkas took the morning observer shift, and Darrin Menzo from
Lansdale closed out the afternoon observer shift.


Weather:
Mostly sunny all day with light and variable winds ranging from 2-8 mph.
Wind direction started from the Northeast, gradually changing in the early
afternoon to East Southeast. Temperatures ranged from 40 degrees
Fahrenheit to a high of 54 degrees Fahrenheit at 1300 EST.

Raptor Observations:
It was a slow day with 'bursts' of Buteos mainly red shouldered hawks in
the morning, then 22 redtail hawks during the last hour of the count.

Bald Eagles (2) - 1354 (Immature); 1425 (Adult)

Golden Eagle (1) - 1238 (Immature)

Two adult Bald Eagles flew from the South Lookout above the bowl then
Northeast at 1325 EST.

A Merlin also flew from the South lookout over the North Lookout, then
parallel to the finish line before heading east and thus not counted.

Non-raptor Observations:
Four Ravens, one loon, one Great Blue Heron, and thousands of migrating
black birds

Predictions:
Rain early, then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High near
50 degrees Fahrenheit with winds ENE at 10-15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Rainfall around a half an inch.
