Hello Bird People,

Waukegan Beach (7:30-8 a.m.)

Not much at Waukegan Beach but shorebirds were 1 Sanderling & 2 Dunlin
on the pier.
Ducks in the lake & flying by were Mallards, Redhead & Red Breasted Mergansers.
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls were on the pier & channel walls.

Illinois Beach South Unit (8:30-11 a.m.)

The Dead River has again broken through & is flowing into the lake.
Saw a Bald Eagle flying by & a SHORT EARED OWL flushed from the tall
grass. Land birds were few but included Red Bellied Woodpecker, Blue
Jays, Crows, Red Breasted Nuthatches (2), Tree Sparrows & both Siskins
& Goldfinch flew by.

Stopped at Independence Grove on the way home by only saw many Canada
Geese & 1 each Great Blue Heron & Ring Billed Gull but I only looked

Not much seen today but Bird-Of-The-Day was a good one which was the
Short Eared Owl.
Runner-Up to the fly-by Bald Eagle.
