Subject: [pen-bird] Santa Cruz Mountain skywatch
 On a couple of fog free mornings, I did a skywatch along the ridgeline of the Santa Cruz Mountains near Highway 92. Birds noted were during a three hour skywatch on both mornings.     Below is a list of southbound birds Sharp-shinned Hawk ( 1 ) Band-tailed Pigeon ( 3,100, highest number in a group 170 ) Varied Thrush ( 472 ) American Robin ( 1,620, averaging 30-40 in a group )   American Pipit ( 10 ) Cedar Waxwing ( 270 ) Yellow-rumped Warbler ( 9 ) Savannah Sparrow ( 2 ) LAPLAND LONGSPUR ( 2 together ) Western Meadowlark ( 1 ) Purple Finch ( 52 ) Red Crossbill ( 3 ) Pine Siskin ( 14 ) Lesser Goldfinch ( 45 ) Ron Thorn
