> - Comments: "I studied this bird for a long time. All views were distant views through a scope. Large black duck with a thick bill. Distinct white spots on cheek and at base of bill when observed in profile. I had numerous views of the rear of its head and never saw any white. I was leaning toward WWSC at this point. However, it finally stretched its wings and the underwing pattern was consistent with SUSC — black with gray primaries and secondaries. No white patch present. It was associating continuously with four Gadwall. They all just love the exact center of the lake."
