Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 18. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
A CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was seen October 12 near Grants Pass. A DICKCISSAL
was photographed October 17 at the Philomath Sewage Ponds.
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS were reported during the week at Winchuck River, Bandon,
Siltcoos Est., Yaquina Bay, and Seaside Cove. Conspicuous migrants during
the week PALM WARBLERS, NORTHERN SHRIKES, and ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS.
On October 12 a SWAMP SPARROW was at Flores Lake. A SNOW BUNTING was seen
October 14 at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW
was at Seaside Cove October 15.
On October 13 a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was reported at Frenchmanıs Bar near
Ridgefield NWR. On October 14 a PALM WARBLER was on Hayden Island. Off
Hayden Islandıs Columbia Point that day were 25 SURF SCOTERS, seven
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, and three EARED GREBES. On October 12 a SWAMP SPARROW
was at the Fernhill Wetlands. Three TRUMPETER SWANS were seen during the
week near Veneta. On October 14 three SURF SCOTERS and eight LAPLAND
LONGSPURS were at Lost Lake on the Rogue River near Shady Cove.
