I will be in Acadia National Park in Maine. Any suggestions as to species I should be looking for that I might not be able to see back in the Midwest?

Thanks

There wasn't a single gull on the main beach (I did not go to the shorebird area), but I could see a shorebird on the opposite (north) side of Lake Montrose, just east of the dog beach. It had a contrasting dark cap and had an upright posture, so my immediate impression was Golden Plover, but I needed to walk all the way around to be certain (it would be a year bird, after all). By the time I got around the sun was setting, so the iPhone photos attached to my eBird report aren't great, but they're sufficient. The aspect I couldn't capture with the phone was the golden cast on the entire back.
