Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 4. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
On September 30 an EASTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL was heard at the South Jetty of
the Columbia River. On September 28 a BOOBY was seen off Lincoln City. The
next day one was off Cape Meares. A MANX SHEARWATER was seen off Tierra del
Mar October 1.
An offshore boat trip out of Garibaldi October 29 found seven SOUTH POLAR
SKUAS, a FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, and a SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATER. The next
day a BULLERıS SHEARWATER was in the same area.
On October 2 migrant TOWNSENDıS WARBLERS were in Corvallis and Eugene. The
next day up to 20 BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS were in Eugene. A PALM
WARBLER was in Corvallis September 30. On October 3 a movement of SAVANNAH
SPARROWS was observed at Brownsmead.
An early TUNDRA SWAN was at Heceta Beach September 29. That day a
BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD was coming to a feeder near Toledo. A group of
three MARBLED GODWITS were at Tillamook Bay September 30. A RED PHALAROPE is
now being seen on Force Lake in North Portland. A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was
reported September 29 at the Salem Airport. That day a SHARP-TAILED
SANDPIPER was at Finley NWR. On October 2 a BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Fern
