Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 13:30:00 Total observation time: 4.5 hours
Official Counter: John Mercer
Weather: Started late and still had half an hour of rain in the beginning, then called the watch at 2:30 EDT when rain started and was projected to last 2 more hours. The rest of the time was overcast with winds mostly south from 4 to 10 mph.
Raptor Observations: Two Merlins went by close, one had recently molted and had the two outer feathers of its tail shorter than the others and gave the tail a very distinctive stepped look. Only one was counted the other was deemed to be not migrating
Non-raptor Observations: 3 Monarch, 1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird and about 40 Blue Jays
Predictions: Forecast is for mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures in the upper 70's to low 80's, winds mostly south around 8 mph. If the clouds break and the sun comes out, it may be a good day, there are still a lot of Broadwings bottled up north of here, and they have to be anxious to get moving. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
