Observation start time: 08:30:00 Observation end time: 12:30:00 Total observation time: 4 hours
Observers: Chris Eddy, Doug Wipf, Tom Gottschang
Visitors: Notes by Tom Gottschang. Thanks for sending them along!
Tom was joined around 10:00 by Doug Wipf and Chris Eddy, both good recruits.
Weather: It was pretty well fogged in until about 10:00 or so and then broken clouds and pretty good visibility out as far as Mt. Watatic. Boston never appeared. There was a pretty steady wind from the west.
Raptor Observations: Around 10:30, some local birds started to appear, no migrants, as far as we could tell. Raptors: Two red tails, who popped up repeatedly; at least two TVs, also multiple appearances; one unidentified accipiter; a great look at a Merlin, which streaked west right past us, then turned, came back over the summit and rode a thermal up several hundred feet.
Non-raptor Observations: At least two ravens, repeatedly; several chimney swifts; and one cedar waxwing. So, you didn't miss much, but it was fun.
