Here’ more details than I sent by iPhone. This was my 4th attempt!
> Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, Davis US-CA (38.5408,-121.6191), Yolo, California, US
> Sep 5, 2018 8:21 AM - 8:41 AM
> Protocol: Stationary
> Comments: Walked to first check dam from Lot C
> 2 species
> Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla) 2
> Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Calidris subruficollis) 1
> Very close! On 1st check berm near 2 least sandpipers. About 100 feet south at first bare of veg spot. Large eyed, bill equal in length to the head; buff breast; larger than least; longer necked - about dowitchers size but slightly taller. East of lot C. Brief view then walked into green vegetation. The green weeds are taller on the first check berm than other 2 berms at least for today. Could not refund the bird after looking 45 minutes with Dan Brown or Jeri Langham.
