Subject: [SierraNevadaBirds] UPDATE: Kern Violet Crowned Hummingbird
Just received a phone call from Gary File. He and Steve Williams were
at the Kern River Preserve hummingbird feeders viewing site at first
light this morning. Up to six birders in all during the morning. Three
still remaining.
BOTTOM LINE No sightings of the Violet-crowned Hummingbird today
through Noon..I don't know if those three remaining plan to remain the
rest of the day to either verify the continued presence or the first
all day absence of this bird since it was first found by John Stanek
and Matt Toemies at dawn this past Saturday, July 7, 2018. Even so,
after the early morning viewing yesterday, the rest of that day's
multiple observations were all made from 12:25 pm up until 5 pm (with
no negative or positive reports yesterday after 5 pm).
