Yesterday, a Limpkin was photographed in Dinsmore Slough at Wheeler NWR. It was in view from 5:30-8:00 AM when flushed by an approaching refuge vehicle. An attempt to find the bird from 7:30-9:00 AM this morning was unsuccessful. Dinsmore Slough is along Flint Creek south of the Refuge Visitor Center. Public access to the area is restricted to boat and foot travel. For current information and directions to Dinsmore Slough, please call the Refuge Visitor Center at (256) 350-6639.
