I've been traveling a bit this past week - St. Helena, Ascension, Livingston, East Feliciana, Allen, and Rapides parishes - and have seen a good bit of juvenile martin activity when I was birding.

This evening I visited the martin roost at the Metairie end of the Causeway over Lake Pontchartrain. There were a couple thousand birds (past experience shows morning counts are usually much higher than evening). I have posted a grainy video on my blog, birdingneworleans.blogspot.com, along with a satellite image showing that the Mandeville roost is active again as well. There was not a single adult male among the c. 200 I inspected closely.
