Subject: [VA-bird] Burke Lake: Bonaparte’s Gulls
I just spent about two hours looking at 80 to 100 Bonaparte’s Gulls at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax County. I saw and photographed birds in all of the plumages including at least two or three with a full dark hood. They were busily flying over, feeding on, and sitting on the water.
A real treat !
There was also a large group of maybe 50 to 60 Double-crested Cormorants, all clustered together on the far side of the lake.
The Bonapartes Gulls and Cormorants are still there.
