Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Jerry McWilliams
Observers: Jerry McWilliams
Visitors: Joao Taveres helped spot birds around lunch time and Don Snyder and Bonnie Ginader stopped by.
Weather: Chrystal clear all day with a fairly steady SSE wind through much of the day, and warmer than the past several days.
Raptor Observations: Today was the first decent movement of raptors this season. Red-shouldered Hawks made up for the majority of raptors followed by Red-tailed Hawk. The southerly breeze kept birds close to the lake all day long, with a moderate steady stream of vultures. Birds were flying at all heights. Highlight was an immature Northern Goshawk that flew low right over the watch, giving us great looks.
Non-raptor Observations: Hundreds of Common Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds, and a few Brown-headed Cowbirds were moving past in large flocks for much of the morning. Other birds moving included Killdeer 5, American Robin 125, Eastern Bluebird 1.
Predictions: South winds will continue, but the hundred percent chance of rain for most of the day does not bode well for a movement.
