The Clifton Institue extends an invitation to courteous birders to visit our lower pond today to see a male Eurasian Wigeon. Please note, the property is an eBird ‘restricted access’ property with very narrow driveways.
We are located at 6712 Blantyre Road, Warrenton VA. Black mailbox with the number on the post. Please drive very slowly on the driveway.
When you crest the hill, the pond will be visible on the right. Continue down to the parking area on the left directly opposite the pond. Please view from this location only. Please do not walk around the pond or on the dam. The wigeon is staying to the back of the pond and we’d like to allow everyone the opportunity to see it without flushing any ducks, geese or swans.
Additional species on the pond include: Tundra swans Wood duck American Wigeon Black duck Canvasback Redhead Ring-neck Duck Bufflehead Hooded merganser
