I gave up on my pole feeder. To reach the feeder, deer put their front hooves
on the squirrel guard, forcing it to the ground. The squirrels are grateful.
A few years ago I inserted an eye hook into the soffit outside our living room
picture window. The deer can't reach that hanging feeder and the birds are
used to us watching. Also we have feeders hanging from our deck pergola. So
far the deer have not walked up onto the deck, but won't be surprised if they
