Subject: [texbirds] Ebird Hotspot names in Texas Cities changing--moving to ebird standard used elsewhere in world
Texbirders/Ebirders:
Just a note to let you know that this weekend i will be changing the names of ebird hotspots in cities in the state of Texas to comply with the ebird naming convention used elsewhere in the world outside of Texas........................
So in most cases city prefixes such as "Austin--" or "Galveston--" will be removed....................................
If the name of the hotspot could be confused with similarly names parks elsewhere then the name of the city will follow the name of the park preceded  by a comma..............................
For example:....................
"Austin--Big Thicket Park" will become....................
Big Thicket Park, Austin.........................................--as we need to distinguish this park from the many other Big Thicket parks in east Texas....................
However, Austin--Red Bud Isle Park (HOTE 044) will just become..........Red Bud Isle Park (HOTE 044)...without "Austin" in the name as that park is less likely to be confused with other parks outside of Austin.
It will take a little while to change all the names--but hopefully all will be done by Sunday night.
My apologies--Hopefully this won't cause too much disruption but it will be good for all areas' ebird hotspots to be consistent. This change is overdue.
I will try to do an entire city all at once and move region by region to make it less confusing during the change. Plan to start in the Panhandle tonight.
