I don’t think it’s open at all. You can scope from the beach pretty well, though (the light is better in the afternoon than the morning).

Hi all - The King Eider was still there yesterday, 1-10, both times I have been there she has been on the south side of the pier. The pier was closed yesterday though I was told it would be open. There are black, surf and one female white winged scoter as well as few bufflehead, red throated and common loon s, cormo rant etc.

The common eider continues at the Myrtle Beach State Park PIer.

Take care.

The Springmaid pier was about 80% destroyed during last year's hurricane and has yet to be rebuilt.
And there has been a Common Eider hanging around the MB State Park pier for the last few weeks.

If it disappears from the 2nd Ave. Pier, the nearby Springmaid Pier
and Myrtle Beach State Park Pier are worth checking. As is the
Garden City Pier - that's where the hen King Eider hung out in 2004.

I hope she stays away from the idiot jump-shooting duck hunter
wannabes prowling Murrells Inlet and surrounds.

Hi All,

If anyone sees the 2nd Ave Pier King Eider in Myrtle Beach today or tomorrow
please post. I don't think I've seen the eider on CarolinaBirds yet.

Thanks so much and Good Birding All!
