Subject: [pen-bird] La Honda Open Space Preserve hotspots - Vesper and Lark Sparrows
The recent reports of the Vesper Sparrow and Lark Sparrows are likely to draw folks to the newly opened La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve, so wanted to let folks know that there are 2 Hotspots for La Honda Creek OSP that have been set up on eBird.
“La Honda Creek OSP (upper) – restricted access – permit required”
“La Honda Creek OSP (lower)”
Please use La Honda OSP (lower) hotspot if you go for the Lark and Vesper Sparrows.
And just a note, on December 28, 2017, Chis Macintosh and John Esterl were the first ones to report the 3 Vesper Sparrows , which they did on eBird. And kudos to Garth Harwood for getting such great photos documenting the Vesper Sparrows, even showing the chestnut patch across the lesser coverts. Congrats to Chris and John for originally finding these continuing birds.

I can’t wait to go birding there!
