In reference to the notation about the injured Scaup, as well other times I've seen mention if injured or dead sightings, please do not just let nature be, call for help.
In San Francisco Animal Care and Control will come out and pickup the Animal, whether to treat, rehab and release or put out of misery. Awful to just let an injured Animal such as reported suffer.
SFACC will also pickup dead Animals. Like when the multiple Gulls were reported here at Herons Head. ACC is interested I. the deaths as they want to determine if there is a contagious disease involved.
Keep ACC phone number in your cell. 415.554.9400. You can also refer to this link for what to do outside the City.
Thank you Kimberly Leo San Francisco

My city Snow Goose flew into Crissy Lagoon at 4:45 pm today, accompanied by 4 Greater White-fronted Geese. Snow Goose, grey behind eye, grey/white feathers, dark bill with visible grin patch looked like the immature that David Assmann and others reported last month.
Also had 9 Horned Grebe in the bay, a Scaup paddling desperately to the shore of Crissy Beach, badly injured and trying to rest but dogs made it impossible. 500-1000 gulls, mostly Mew Gulls in/out of lagoon. Ring-billed Gulls taking clams from the lagoon, flying out over walking path, dropping clams to shatter them, then feasting.
