Subject: [NBB] Two Special-Status Species @ Skaggs Island Road: Short-eared Owl & Saltmarsh Common Yellowthroat & Etc.
Happy Holidays to all:

@ Skaggs Island Road today (via walking to the bridge from parking my car at the Highway 37 entrance area):

- 1 adult SHORT-EARED OWL watched for 20 minutes as it foraged 700’ east-northeast of the bridge as I perched
at its apex.

- 2 SALTMARSH COMMON YELLOWTHROAT heard calling

Both of the above are listed as special-status species by the CA Dept. of Fish & Wildlife.

- In addition: One distant adult COOPER’S HAWK seen perching while I viewed it with my spotting scope.

- Also interesting to hear the one-note call notes of three different SORA.

Regards,

Daniel Edelstein
